ALL NEW VIDEO SERIES: The Spearo's Journey

I am introducing a new series of e-films appropriatly titled "The Spearos Journey".
In these films I will try to capture the incredible excitement spearos are lucky enough to face as well as the extraordinary lengths we go to just to spear fish.

For thousands of years, humans have utilized the ocean as their main source of food, culture and livelihood. With this dependence on the ocean brings a special bond with it. Our ancestors understood this bond and respected it.
Today humanity as a whole has merely cast it aside.

In this modern age of electronics, reality TV, hybrid cars, and stock markets, most of us have turned away from the sea and live our lives completely unaware of the awe inspiring wonder it produces.

Although many people still use the ocean today, very few of them feel truly connected and responsible for its protection the way others do. They fear it and would rather sit on shore and speculate what happens under the waves rather than face it for themselves.

A small group of watermen, from an early age felt this unexplainable primal energy the ocean offers.

We are the stewards, protectors, and shepherds of the sea. We are freedive spearfishermen.

With but a single breath, we descend upon the depths of the ocean, searching for a select group of targets for which we can utilize for harvest, specifically targeted without any bycatch.

Focused, all our mental, physical, and emotional power is harnessed as we attempt to stalk our prey while conserving last reserves of precious oxygen in our muscles.

With the skill and knowledge passed down by generations before us, we constantly look for new ways to improve our hunting and techniques, adapting to the conditions and modifying gear for each new target.

We scour the world’s blue; Constantly searching for a new challenge, a new species to hunt, a new danger to encounter, all while finding ourselves along the way.

We go through extraordinary lengths to find this spiritual connection to the sea and ourselves. It consumes us.

This drive can cause us to strain relationships, spend all our money, and find ourselves in life or death situations; however for those who have never felt this bond, they will never understand themselves in the way we do.

It is not merely the hunt itself but rather the natural and spiritual miracles we experience along the way that keeps us coming back for more.

I have put together this site as a way to showcase some of the footage I have shot throughout my spearfishing career and compiled them into small films free to download and view. I hope to use this site to promote safe, conservative minded spearfishing and to give a first hand look into some of the incredible destinations, excitement, and natural beauty spearos are lucky enough to experience. This site is a work in progress so check back for new projects to be added.
